You were due to arrive on April 1, 2011, but you were a little stubborn and decided that we would have to give you a little push (no pun intended).
I went to see my Doctor, Dr. Kallenberger, on April 4, 2011 and we made the decision that we would induce labor. Daddy and I went to Integris Baptist Hospital the evening of April 4, 2011 to get checked in and begin the medicine to start my labor. Your sister stayed with her friend Karlee so she could go to school and cheer leading clinic the following day(s).
My labor really became painful around 9:00AM and about 12:00 PM my nurse made the decision that it was time for me to get an epidural, as at times my contractions were 30 seconds apart but I wasn't dilated or ready to deliver you yet....I was a bit stubborn myself and wanted to wait, but the pain was very intense. Once I got the epidural I felt SO much better and was able to rest (so was Daddy). By 8:00 PM I had progressed enough that the nurses were ready to start preparing for your arrival. At 8:21PM I started pushing while we wait for Dr. Kallenberger to arrive. He arrived at 8:55PM and you came into the world at 9:13PM....
You were the most beautiful thing that I have ever seen in my life and much bigger than I expected 8lb 6oz (Daddy guessed your weight and was off by 2oz) and 21 1/2 inches long. Daddy and I cried as we look at you on my chest in amazement that you were here...The nurses took you over the the table to take your vital signs, etc (you scored a 9 on the apgar test) and clean you up a bit and quickly handed you back to Daddy!
By 9:22PM you were having your first meal!
Shortly after you finished eating the nurse told us that you had a slight fever and that you needed to be taken to the nursery to be evaluated, while I didn't want to be away from for you one second, we knew that was best so Daddy went with you. After about two hours, I was moved into a normal hospital room and they brought you back to me, your fever was gone and you were in perfect health. We stayed in the hospital two nights and went home on Thursday, April 7, 2011 in the late morning.
The joy of your birth is unexplainable. The love that Daddy and I have for you is unmeasurable...you are my dream come true.
